Our recent family escapade led us to the enchanting winter wonderland. We spent our weekend at the hotel Adapura Wagrain. Nestled next to the ski slope in the heart of the majestic Snow Space Salzburg, this gem of a hotel proved to be the perfect haven for our family adventure.
Ski-In, Ski-Out Bliss at Adapura Wagrain
Adapura Wagrain boasts a prime location, right next to the ski slope of Snow Space Salzburg. Imagine our daughter’s sheer joy when she was able to ski from the powdery slopes almost right to the hotel. Even though I don’t ski, I too was impressed with the vast ski resort and the many options it offers.
Snow Space Salzburg caters to all ski levels, making it an ideal destination for families seeking both excitement and relaxation.
Along with the rest of the family, I took the gondola and while they skied, I enjoyed the sunshine and the breathtaking alpine scenery.
Wagrain’s Allure Beyond the Slopes
But Wagrain offers more than just skiing. After a bountiful dinner, we were so full we took a stroll and admired the charming village, surrounded by the snowy peaks of the Austrian Alps.
The village is also famous for being the birthplace of the Christmas carol “Silent Night” (Stille Nacht).
It was composed by Franz Xaver Gruber, and the lyrics were written by Joseph Mohr. The world premiere of “Silent Night” took place at the St. Nicholas Church (now Silent Night Chapel) in Oberndorf, near Wagrain, on December 24, 1818.
Adapura’s Culinary Delights: A Feast for the Senses
Now, let’s talk about the real treat at Adapura Wagrain – the food! After a day of conquering the slopes, the hotel pampered us with an array of culinary delights. We checked in at three thirty, and we immediately indulged in the snack. It was a perfect pick-me-up, offering a taste of local flavors to recharge our energy.
We used that energy to explore the hotels’ spa.
Come evening, we were spoiled for choice with four distinct restaurants within the hotel. From traditional Austrian cuisine to international favorites such as Italian, Asian and BBQ, each restaurant offers a unique dining experience that caters to every palate.
We opted for a table at the Asian buffet restaurant. After a plate of sushi, we were able to pick and chose what we were in the mood for. We even had the option to pile a plate of our favorite things – our favorite noodles, veggies, meat … and the chef prepared it for us.
It’s perfect for picky eaters – our kids, because they get to have exactly what they like. And they get to finish the meal off with different flavors of ice cream and an array of toppings.
And let’s not forget the delectable breakfast buffet that ensured a delightful start to our day.
Relaxation and Recreation: Adapura’s Spa Haven
Besides the food, the highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the spa facilities at Adapura. The indoor pool and family sauna provided the ideal setting for unwinding after a day on the slopes. We had a hard time getting the kids to leave the place.
If you asked them what was their favorite thing about the hotel, I think the unanimous answer would be the pool. Even though, they also appreciated a room dedicated to teens, where we joined them to play a few games. The hotel also has a kids’ playroom and a cinema for kids, so every family member finds their own piece of paradise.
The only problem you can have with kids here is getting them to bed.
Accommodations at Adapura Wagrain: Spacious Cozy Retreats
Not really. Because the rooms at Adapura Wagrain are spacious and cozy. Soft color palettes, warm wood, plush furnishings, and tasteful decor contribute to a cozy atmosphere with a snowy backdrop of Wagrain.
In conclusion, Adapura Wagrain exceeded our expectations in every way. From the thrill of skiing down the slopes to the culinary delights, spa indulgences, and family-friendly accommodations, this hotel provides the perfect blend of excitement and relaxation for a memorable family winter getaway.
