Top 5 Family Attractions in Northern Wales

Wales exceeded my expectations as it has something for everyone. History buffs (me) get their fill of magnificent castles such as the one in Caernarfon. Nature lovers (my husband) get a kick out of Snowdonia national park. And kids love just about everything. Except the moody weather. Here is the list of our top 5 family attractions in Northern Wales.

We loved the best family attraction in Northern Wales – Greenwood Forrest Park. I was more of a kid than Stela there. Set in the beautiful forest, there are all sorts of attractions that kept us busy for hours. Then we also went to visit the Welsh Mountain Zoo in Colwyn Bay on our way to shopping in Liverpool.

But Stela really got a kick out of Victorian Extravaganza which was held in Llandudno on the bank holiday weekend. It was a really fun festival with a tribute to Victorian times and Llandudno a beautiful seaside resort still has this old time feel to it. There were plenty of rides, food, and people in costumes to entertain us the whole morning and with the sun brightly shining it was the perfect day.

So, Wales was amazing. It is in our opinion the perfect family getaway, where you get to enjoy the beautiful nature together with some awesome sites but with no hassle or hordes of other tourists.

LLANDUDNO VICTORIAN EXTRAVAGANZA

In 2017 it will be held from 29th till 1st of May. A fun event for the whole family.

CASTLES

There is an abundance of great castles in Wales. We especially enjoyed Caernarfon castle and the magnificent Conwy castle.

SNOWDONIA NATIONAL PARK

With the highest mountain in England and Wales, the largest natural lake in Wales and a beautiful small town of Betws y Coed) – great for walking or riding a train – there are train routes fit for everyone.

GREENWOOD FORREST PARK

Great attractions tucked in woods. According to their website they won the Best Family Attraction award with The North Wales Chronicle for the second year running.
