Ireland with Kids

Audrey Hepburn might have said: Paris is always a good idea. But for me that goes for Ireland. With or without the kids the emerald island will enchant you with the scenery, old castles, friendly people and quaint villages. To inspire you to start planning a trip to Ireland with kids we share our favorite five sights you shouldn’t miss:

Dublin

Start with the capital of Ireland. Dublin is a perfect little city compared to some other big time capitals,  but still with enough of things to keep you busy for a few days.

From the river Liffey running through the center and a lively Temple Bar district, to the sights such as the St. Patrick’s Cathedral, all the way to the pint of Guinness. You are bound to have a good time discovering this lively metropolis.

Heading down South, in the vicinity of Cork you should visit this enchanting little castle.

I had to check if the legend of the Blarney Stone holds true. It is said that with a kiss of the Stone of Eloquence, found on the top of the Tower, you’ll never again be lost for words. Apparently it’s true.

Cliffs of Moher

I used to imagine the coast of Ireland as one big cliff of Moher after another. It’s not and that’s why these cliffs are so grand and breathtaking.

Despite the crowds you should not miss a chance to enjoy it.

Set in the beautiful I wish I could stay here forever region of Connemara, in county Galway. (By the way Galway is beautiful I just don’t have any great photos of it.)

Kylemore is home to a community of nuns of the Benedictine Order. But more than that it’s a picture perfect, cinematography worth site that will have your imagination running wild.

Set in the the Northern Ireland, which is also worth a visit.

Giant’s Causeway is just one part of the coast made for exploring. Whether you believe in the legend of a giant building these steps to cross over to Scotland or you are more down to earth and know that these interlocking basalt columns are the result of an ancient volcanic eruption, you will still enjoy the walk.

These are just a few must see sights, there’s a whole lot more out there. When now after ten years people ask me what I remember most, it’s how friendly everyone was, how I couldn’t understand the accent, the stunning nature, the ruins and sheep, a pint of beer in the local pub and fish and chips on the beach. Yes, that’s why I wish I could do it all over again.
